Recent Events:
We are generally a cacophonous group over here on the NC coast. Several of us pursue public art in our actual day jobs, so pranksterism tends to be the event nature. Though we are intending on doing something for the kids, since several of us are performance artists in real life as well, and often do hospice and charity performances.

RECENT EVENTS IN WILMINGTON

LEPRACON (3.16.07) ~like santacon, but rented passenger vans and an embedded Irish band, invade the smallest establishments possible, in more than simply green attire. But dressed like genuine leprachauns.

SANTACON (12.16.07) Well you know...

BREAK WHAT? (9.16.07)
A free beach LNT weekend camping event for the burners in the community, led to some interesting press on LNT and environmental issues concerning natural beach habitat and
the addition of people and "party" to the mix.

Interestingly enough, LNT, although well-practiced within the community, was not presented to the press or outside associations for an "official position", leading to Audobon society and Surfrider foundations attempting to shut down the event.
We here in the area now understand the importance of public positioning when throwing an event like this.

INFORMAL GROUPS IN THE AREA

Cape Sphere: large theme camp that attends the larger regional festival, Transformus, comprised of people from various states, directed and orchestrated by people from the Cape Fear Region. The name Cape Sphere connotes common circles of involvement, and providing a community-based campfire circle-style environment for people to relax, share ideas and play.

Yard Art: Free non-commission art held monthly outside near the beach.
Artists in all mediums are allowed to come and hang their work for free. NO catches, no gimmicks, really free art except you have to buy a piece if you like it... But the art work is suggested to be highly affordable, for the purpose of moving art, freeing it, and exchanging hands.
