New Mexico

Regional Community

We are a creative community supporting the philosophies of Burning Man in New Mexico, USA. We celebrate the arts, fire, beauty, joy, creativity, love, sacred healing and living in harmony with the earth and each other.

We serve the entire state of New Mexico and have Burners scattered all over the state. The majority are located in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, with Burners in far flung areas through the state such as Socorro, Farmington, Roswell, Gallup, Las Cruces, Taos, Clovis, and other towns, an amazing 4 from the tiny town of Quemado (Population 1,546).

We meet irregularly for happy hours, parties, art events, and community events.

Currently, we are pulling together a Regional Council with representatives from all over the state who will be able to make real contributions to the growth of our Burner communities and to produce a New Mexico Regional Event.

We do not currently have a regional event in New Mexico. We have combined forces with the Arizona Burners and Border Burners for camp outs, regional events and decompressions.

In 2012, the New Mexico Burners designed, built and burned an incredible Circle Of Regional Effigy in Black Rock City, NV. The theme for Burning Man was Fertility 2.0 and we had the perfect effigy to match the theme and showcase New Mexico’s many talents: Kokopelli.  Kokopelli Rising was a 20 ft tall wooden version a fertility deity, Kokopllei, a flute playing trickster. Kokopelli was 12ft of glorious wood and copper atop an 8 ft. tall platform. Nightly, he produced flame effects out of his 4 ft. long copper flute and poof propane flames out of his head. We held a lovely sunrise ceremony before dawn one day, with a beautiful blessing and then a rendition of “Kokopelli” on flute, followed by mimosas and yummy breakfast burritos.

There are several groups within New Mexico that have organized and are involved in camps and various projects at home and on the playa including, Buddha Lounge, BMIR, Camp 505, Regionauts, Sub Culture, The Roustabouts, to name a few!
