The
Burning Man Vancouver community has grown up since 1999 when a small group
formed our first email list to keep informed of what others were doing.
Since then, burners have gathered together to connect, plan events and camps,
and share experiences. We are an active, friendly and diverse community,
and we've always warmly welcomed Burners and other like-minded folk to participate
in our activities.

The Burning Man Vancouver community has formed the Greater Vancouver Interactive
Arts Society. GVIAS is the result of the efforts of the participants of Recompression,
Burn in the Forest, and Sizzle.

Recompression is a Burning Man-inspired Temporary Autonomous Zone most recently
held in a rain forest on British Columbia’s beautiful Sunshine Coast.
Burn in the Forest – July 2002

Burn in the Forest was a rustic community campout gathering held deep in a
forest valley below glacial peaks, in traditional Squamish Nation territory.
This location is no longer available to us due to closure by wildlife officials
following multiple grizzly encounters. If you are aware of this site, please
respect the closure as the bear’s life (and possibly yours) depends on
it.
Sizzle (aka, Drizzle) July 2007 was held on the Sunshine Coast
Santacon – held every December since 2000
The community is active year-round, hosting decompression parties, club nights, fire spinning jams, community potlucks, town hall meetings, arts and crafts bees, hot tub parties and more. Join the announce list to keep informed.
